                   Ocular Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential A new test for utricular function has recently been introduced and validated, namely the ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP), which refers to the myogenic potentials recorded by surface EMG electrodes beneath both eyes in response to bone conducted vibration (BCV) of the head or air conducted sound (ACS). The oVEMP test differs from another vestibular-evoked myogenic potential recorded by surface EMG electrodes over the sternocleidomastoid muscles in that the cervical vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) due to saccular activation is measured. oVEMP is a reliable clinical test that relies on extensive physiological evidence from studies on guinea pigs, and in particular on recording the vestibular primary afferent responses to BCV, demonstrating that the same BCV causes similar eye movements in both guinea pigs and humans.                                       Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials   (VEMPs) are short-latency,  vestibular -dependent reflexes that are recorded from the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscles in the anterior neck ( cervical  VEMPs or cVEMPs) and the inferior oblique (IO) extraocular muscles (ocular VEMPs or oVEMPs). VEMP testing  is used to evaluate whether certain vestibular organs and associated nerves are intact and functioning normally. Responses in this  test  are measured from different muscles in the neck and around the eyes.           The Brain Stem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA) : is an objective test that gives us the approximate average hearing threshold level of the subject. It is a very reliable but time consuming test to objectively evaluate the hearing threshold of an adult or child across all frequencies except for the low frequencies. The term objective signifies that the patient does not have to subjectively respond to the sound stimuli and convey whether the patient is hearing the sound or not which is required in most hearing tests. The BERA test can automatically detect the patients hearing threshold i.e., how much the patient is hearing and is hence very useful to detect the hearing status in small children and in difficult to test adults. It is usually done using a click sound by which the subject’s average hearing threshold across all frequencies is evaluated.
